What is The Sphere of Light?
The journey of The Sphere of Light began in 2016 with a quiet moment of reflection. While touring the Roots of Knowledge stained-glass windows, our founder Tom Holdman stood on London Bridge, watching lights shimmer across the Thames River. As he took in the view, he thought of the billions of people around the world—each with their own stories, struggles, and triumphs. The idea that art could somehow bring all those stories together felt both inspiring and overwhelming for Tom and his wife, Gayle, co-founder of the project. After 12 years of creating Roots of Knowledge, this moment became a powerful turning point.
From that inspiration, the Roots of Humanity Foundation was born. Over the past eight years, the foundation has supported a range of impactful projects, including the Believe in Him stained-glass windows, the children’s book The Piece That Is You , and The Seven Pillars of Humanity—a series of thesis windows that lay the groundwork for The Sphere of Light.
Venturing Panel for the SOL Building
Now underway, The Sphere of Light is the Roots of Humanity Foundation’s most ambitious vision yet. This monumental masterpiece—spanning 10,000 square feet of illustrative glass—will serve as a beacon of unity, resilience, and our shared human story. Envisioned in Lehi, Utah and projected for completion in 2030, the building will feature four immersive levels:
The Subterranean Level: Where the journey begins—with the formation of creation.
Level One – “Me”: A personal exploration of the individual journey.
Level Two – “Us”: A reflection on relationships, community, and shared experiences.
Level Three – “We”: A collective view of humanity, connection, and universal purpose.
Our hope is that The Sphere of Light will help people recognize that we share more similarities than differences—that we are stronger when united. Art is a universal language, and through it, we aim to inspire individuals of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds.
Follow us on this incredible journey as we bring this monumental building to life—hoping to inspire generations to come.
Thank you for your continued support of our artwork!
Best,
