Glass Blower (Head Gaffer) & Studio Manager

Holdman Studios is seeking a skilled, motivated, and creative Glass Blower to join our team. Holdman Studios is an internationally recognized art glass studio specializing in stained glass, blown glass, architectural installations, public art, and educational experiences.

The Role

Assist in the production of hand-blown glass artwork and architectural glass projects.

Gather, shape, blow, and finish glass pieces using traditional hot shop techniques.

Support lead artists and glassblowers during production and installation projects.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe hot shop environment.

Assist with furnace maintenance, studio operations, and daily shop responsibilities.

Help prepare materials, color applications, molds, and tools for production.

Participate in demonstrations, educational programs, classes, and public events as needed.

Collaborate with artists, designers, and studio staff on custom commissions and large-scale projects.

Uphold Holdman Studios’ commitment to craftsmanship, creativity, and excellence.

Qualifications

Foundational - advanced experience in hot glass blowing techniques.

Experience blowing sheet glass and assisting with sheet glass blowing processes is preferred.

Ability to work in a physically demanding studio environment, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in high temperatures.

Must be able to lift 50lb comfortably.

Must be able to work consistently for several hours.

Ability to work safely in a hot shop environment with exposure to high temperatures. 

Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Experience with production glassblowing, studio assistance, or educational demonstrations preferred.

Passion for art, craftsmanship, and creative problem-solving.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting wage of $20-$40 per hour, with opportunities for advancement based on experience, skill development, leadership, and performance.

Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates. A relocation package is employer-funded financial assistance designed to help offset the costs associated with moving for a new position.
